going on site to set up machines, sustainability of machines, maintaining integrity of firewall system, practically the job of a network engineer and a system engineer for an MSP

Yes def underpaid.

No, unless you have skills not implied by history, 3 years cs, 1 it = zero dev, where the $$ are. Far as we know, script kitty.

system engineers don’t code, they do everything else to make sure coders can code

VMware BiggySmlz Aug 24, 2019

He still seems to have zero relevant experience where higher pay would be deserved. And honestly if he wants more $$, dev is where it is easiest to break into.

You can make 100k as a sysadmin. They are underpaid. You can make 50k to 250k as a sys eng. No joke...

VMware BiggySmlz Aug 24, 2019

3 years customer support, basically help desk 1. Underpaid? Probably. But that level skill set has 50 equally qualified people waiting to take the job .

Its a numbers game. My friend worked in IT support. Told him to apply as systems engineer. Went from 40k to 90k immediately. Just took a few interviews and applications.
