Am I making on par with others out there?
11-12 yoe in software development, currently at level 7. About 162k before tax including bonus and stocks. Living in low COL area in Midwest Should I check my options? Been a while and don’t actually trust Glassdoor a lot for salaries!!

162k in Midwest is 500k in Bay Area.
I’m making 170k TC in Seattle. 3 YOE. I’d say you’re paid fairly but maybe not your potential. It all depends on what you want. I know people with more experience than me who make less than me in similar COL areas but get to work with their favorite technology. I know people with the same experience as me who make almost 100k more than me because they were leveled higher than me. And finally, there are places like OCI were one could make even more money but who knows when that candle will burn out. You should always flirt with the market.
162k in a LCOL area in the Midwest is doing great. If you think you could do better, why not take an interview or two and find out?
