Keeping it anon since I'm paranoid my boss is on blind. Also roast me if I'm underpaid, I need my face rubbed in the dirt to understand whether I should start shopping. Working at MSP as a "Cybersecurity Engineer" past job was Windows Sys admin at a large enterprise. Strong windows sys admin background, and am Proficient in 365, Microsoft Entra, Crowdstrike, SentinelOne, various SIEMs) and PowerShell until the ai overlords take that over. Strong soft skills to the point where I get looped in by management to explain technical problems to non-tech folks, which inevitably leads to me interfacing with customers. Average workload is 60+ hours so naturally I'm on salary. To be clear I don't work at a SOC, when I'm not working with tools or consulting, I essentially turn into a project manager for cyber related efforts on our customers. Additionally I wear the PM hat if an incident happens and direct the data collection and recovery efforts, but I still do much of the technical work as well. Edit: MCOL state despite being remote, customers are in HCOL area / state. TC 115K YOE 6
yes you could be making 200 for this.
Looks about mid-range for IT support with a security focus in a MCOL area. You could make more at a Tier 1 or 2, but most places, especially MSP's are in that range for the skills and responsibilities you've listed.
This is the exact comment I needed. You have pointed out the obvious by wording it as a "security focus" and that's what this job feels like. Previous position was security only so I think I've moved in thr wrong direction here. It's funny how someone can show you something that you've overlooked and the light bulb goes off.

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
Depends on location, but probably underpaid
I'm at the upper end of a MCOL area but my customer are in HCOL
What does your customer location have to do with your TC?
