I am trying to change orgs. How do other hiring managers know that an internal transfer candidate is on Focus? My manager has not explicitly told me that I am on Focus and too early to poke the bear. Do new HMs see any flags on Phonetool or wherever to not entertain informational chats and initiate loops? Edit: I don't intend to formally apply until done with loops. TC: $320K #tech #amazon #focus
You can’t change orgs if you’re in focus. The new manager won’t want you either. Ask your current manager and/or HRBP explicitly and they have to give you an honest answer. Look for something else as soon as you clear focus, but your new manager will be able to see you performance history.
People in focus require a VP approval to transfer. Nobody will give this approval bow when there are plenty of TTs from other companies after layoffs
They check with their HRBP
HRBP will give a green/red signal
You can apply, do coffee chats, but as soon as recruiting attempts to generate an offer it will fail without an approval from VP.

PM is irrelevant role and will die in next 2-3 years.
I don’t think they see anything until after you apply and then they can see your last rating. Your manager isn’t supposed to say “focus,” but they should be giving you specific deadlines. Especially if they are sending you a recap after every 1:1, you’re likely on focus. If you aren’t yet, then transfer asap. As soon as you’re on focus, you need vp approval to transfer.
If i tell my manager i found a new team, can he put me on focus after hearing that? Currently I asked him, he said i am not yet on focus.
I’ve read all kinds of posts on blind about being put on focus after telling a manager you found a new team. I know one person who that happened to also.
