Question about Amazon. Does anybody knows how rsu and sign up bonuses will be recalculated after first year in case of relocation to Seattle from an office in other country.
Depending on the country you might have to pay tax on a portion of the RSU in the original country, for RSUs that were assigned when you were in that country. Amazon provided a company to do the tax return. I moved from the UK and get a refund on the tax that gets paid when my RSUs vest in the UK. Don't know what happens to signing bonus
No additional signing bonus and RSU would be allocated to compensate difference b/w your current pay (seattle base+ home location bonus+home location RSU) and tc in Seattle role. Rsu won't vest immediately so you will only get seattle base pay+ home location bonus+ home location RSU in the year (Apr- Mar) you move. Additional RSU will vest from April. Re calculation happens at current price so appreciation in stock price since you joined the company is taken into account. You will be meeting your tc but your peers would be earning more than you, until stocks allocated during first offer are vested.
You will get additional grants and a salary bump if the pay bands are higher in Seattle. That's usually part of the offer to move you
