Discussing with recruiter possible AWS teams to interview with. Are there any teams that are specifically toxic and should be avoided ? Additionally, are there any groups that are supposed to be real nice ?
Tell the recruiter you want to join non toxic teams.
Thank you for the valuable suggestion
Recruiters have no clue
Recruiters compete so they'll lie to you to get you in their reqs
Stay away from any console team. And if you are the loner type who hardly make good friends at work you'll be PIP.
Hahaha.. are u the bar raiser who interviewed me last year? He has the same opinion about the console team. Haha.. If yes, I have to say I enjoyed our conversation. And sorry that I could not solve that DP problem that you asked in the end.
What is a console team and why are they bad? Too much on call?
They create the web interface for the particular service. They are bad because they only do whatever the core service teams decide, don't have much if any influence on the business or tech. And at the same time they're often seen as blocking the launch since you can't really launch a feature without a web interface. Console is not a place to get promotion, and usually hire people that are turned down by other teams. On-call wise it's nothing compared to a high traffic core service team.
Ahh I see. Very insightful inputs. So less impactful work with AWS Console team but on the flip side great wlb π.
Check the Amazon music, Twitch etc teams in SF. Great places to rest and vest π
