I have offers for both companies. At AWS elastic search team and also for Microsoft Teams. Which of these orgs are better from a career/learning point of view and has better culture. I'm not keen on working to the point that I burn myself out but I welcome a challenging work environment nonetheless. Both will be remote until WFH ends so ideally the one with better remote ramp up and support structure. I know AWS has fantastic learning opportunities and high impact, but I hear the org has terrible WLB. How does this compare with Microsoft Teams? In the interview Microsoft did mention they have on call once every 2 or 3 months. Stack in MSFT seems to be less appealing (C# and PowerShell) vs Amazon (Java, Python). No concrete numbers yet but assume the TC may be within 20k range of each other. EDIT: For those quoting wlb as the reason to go with Microsoft what if the two are the same? How would that influence your decision? Update: Microsoft offering L63 at 190k TC Amazon keeping me at L5 @ 220k More responsibility at MSFT but less pay? #offer #microsoft #aws #tech Current TC is half of either offers. TC:105k YOE: 5.5
AWS you will never sleep. MS teams you'll sleep all day.
Teams is one of the most visible orgs with the highest impact right now so you’ll have plenty of growth and learning opportunities. That said, WLB is also on the worse side of MS.
WLB is awful
Pick MS...
If offers are same TC choose MS. Teams is growing fast and you’ll have better WLB than Amazon.
Why do you need wlb now? Your young, go to A
So i worked for AWS and now working for teams, i will say dont think of AWS
Is AWS really that bad? In terms of culture or wlb?
I've heard internally that teams is growing and hiring like crazy. It's a new team (3 yrs or so). If you shine, there's scope for growing well.
What’s your current TC and yoe ?
Updated. Any insight into the Teams org in Microsoft?
