I don’t mean to fear monger but hearing rumors about upcoming massive layoffs at Alexa. We’re talking paring down the workforce by 50-80%. Can anyone confirm or deny? Asking on behalf of friend who’s not on Blind.
This is not true. I’m actually very high in the Alexa team and we are going to hire
I can or can’t confirm nor deny
You seem qualified to be the president of the U.S.
Winner of best comment 🤣
Who uses Alexa ? They need a 80% layoff. What’s the point of the org ? Sell subsidized devices which people use to play a song ?
Dude no one uses Alexa .
Not true at all. I had to leave a note on my downstairs neighbor’s door because their f-king Alexa kept going off in the middle of the day when they weren’t home and it would ring for hours
Lmao 🤣
I was an early adopter of Alexa and still have one per room in my house. This shit has gone downhill and it's not even funny at this point. Echo device voice recognition has gotten worse and it's not providing anything useful other than checking weather and setting timers at this point.
You even have one in your bedroom? I wonder what the ad feeds are on your phone. Please let us know.
The recognition is awful now. It was fine like a year ago but I'm not sure if it's due to software updates for that particular module, but holy hell I hate it.
There is going to be a reduction in head counts for sure.
Is it profitable
No
$10 billion loss in 2022.
> I don’t mean to fear monger but hearing rumors
It's an obvious thing after Dave Limp (SVP of devices) is fired. They need to close down all the BS of Alexa Microwaves and Alexa Auto. Google also moved more than 50% of it's employees from Google Home and Apple is shutting down its smart speaker business. The entire smart speaker business is not worth the hype.
This is how rumors are spread 🤦🏼♂️
Many rumors on blind turned out to be true, including the meta's big layoff.
Sure, sure.
