Does anybody have any pointers on how to best prepare for an SQL interview for an Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer L6 role? I know its going to be only SQL, and maybe some Data Viz (Not sure how that is tested?) It has been a while since I have been through a technical assessment, So If you can point me to a good resource for prep/questions, it would really help! Thanks in advance!
For SQL LC easy and medium
Leetcode has only couple of hards, master self join , most of tricky questions on sql are based on 1. Self join 2. Case statements 3. Window function If you master these concepts then you are rock solid in tech interviews.
Thanks!
Got a good resource for self join? For me it’s one of the hardest to understand when I would want to use it.
Another thing, is there a problem if you’re used to coding on SQL server?
We don’t need executable code so you can use any syntax you like. It’s all very similar so we just want to see you express your logic.
Can you please let me know how it went, i have one coming in 2 weeks.
hey how did yours go?
Gaps and islands
Are they going to test hard sql questions for l6 bie role? Or Is it similar to l5 ? @petabyte_
Another question, I was told that there will be questions on ETL and Visualization. Anybody have an idea what they usually are and a good resource for that?
I agree, recruiter told me that there will be questions on data warehousing, etl, query optimization, and visualization too
Please let me know if you find an answer
Anyone know the TC for L6 BIE?
Articulate your thought process as you're working through the problems. Ask questions along the way and treat it as if you're actually in a work environment and the interviewer is your teammate or manager. Don't be afraid to ask 'is this right so far?' I've 👍'd countless candidates who exhibited a collaborative mindset over those that stay silent and mashed their keyboard to the solution.
I bought bigtechinterviews.com subscription & found it worth the money. You can dm me & I'll share more about it
DMed you
Dm’ed you too
Window functions, joins, aggregations, case statements etc. Nothing earth shattering. If you get something wrong it’s ok, it gives you a chance to show how you approach debugging. My orgs sql test is embarrassingly easy. The actual use cases differ across teams. I’m surprised they aren’t evaluating python because knowledge of a scripting language is a tech requirement for L5 and above.
What are the other requirements beyond SQL and Python? What level of python is expected?
Leadership principles. And python depends on the team. Ranges from pandas basics to easy leetcode.
