Currently a BA at a financial firm w. 7 YOE. I have an interview next week with Amazon for a BIE role in NYC. No idea what team as the recruiter stated that they interview candidates and then try to fit them to specific groups based on skill set. Skills: sql, excel, tableau, VBA, basic Python What should I expect and any suggestions on what to brush up on?
Please dont forget LPs

I am in NYC BIE pipeline loop, meaning if you attend onsite based in NY most likely I will be there unless I’m not in office. From what I can tell you, the panel I am in is very hard on data warehouse design and SQL. Easy to intermediate python questions. VBA is an lost art that no one cares at Amazon, but it might turn to your benefit if you meet the right HM who happens to have Excel automation needs. Be very careful about the case you use at financial industry, don’t go too crazy thinking these tech people wouldn’t understand. Many of them worked in finance for decade before joining Amazon. At last, if your onsite is on Monday at JFK19, then forget about the data warehouse part I mentioned above, the guy who’s extremely hard on that is on business trip.
Thanks for the insight! Would you say that if you're not so great with the SQL and python but, are great with the LP, it'll be a hard no? Or again does it vary based on the team your interviewing with?
You can get by with python, but if you are not great on sql then it’s a hard no. Panel is the same across all teams, although HM and bar raiser make the final decision, even if HM doesn’t care about sq, bar raiser will definitely veto.
