Has Amazon just given up on trying to get "bar raisers"? They have hired several people I know of late who were mid to low performers at Oracle. TC - $260k

I went through one full panel interview with amazon. My “bar raiser” was an absolute idiot who didn’t understand basic statistics.
Can bar raiser be a system design round? Or it’s always the coding round?

If you do well in bar raisers you get paid better, what’s the deal?
Amazon used to require that any employee they hired was better than the average Amazon employee currently employed at Amazon... so they were continuously "raising the bar." Doesn't seem like that is happening anymore.... either that or the average employee isn't very impressive.
Ah okay, so if you do poorly in the bar raiser you don’t get the job or you do additional rounds? Down level may be?
