Peaceful Protest Hasn’t Worked and Has Been Met With Aggression.
Contemplating a lot. Joined Nordstrom recently and at the Senior Engineer level. Got Amazon offer a month ago, but team matching took time, and have an offer from a really good team. Recently a teammate decided to quit Nordstrom and there is a chance to get promoted by the end of the year and manage a lot of people(contractors and junior engineers, technically and managerially). I feel good in deciding the technical architecture of the team and giving the team direction at Senior Engineer level. Amazon might not give me that opportunity. YOE:6.5 Nordy pay(Seattle): 195k Amazon(Bay Area): 295k #Amazon #nordstrom #seattle #bayarea
If you interview well and are really doing senior level work in Nortstrom, maybe. But you could also still be offered SDE 2 at the end of the day.
This is no brainer, why would you choose Nordstrom over Amazon?
WLB, Work Culture, Level of Influence, Open Source Technology use, 33% Nordstrom Discount, Career Progression and many other reasons. I don't think you can just discount Nordstrom Sr. Engineer 1.
Sr Engineer 1 is mid-L5 at Amazon with less pay!
If you think the title is important than go for it
AMZN pay >>>>> Nordstorm pay
But growth :). Can't i get promoted and then come back to Amazon at SDE-3 level? 7.5 yoe and SDE3, ain't that possible?
I think it's possible. Of course, you might be at a slight disadvantage given that most people don't consider Nordstrom a "Tech" company.
