Hi, just got an offer. Before the phone screen was asked about my minimal expectations by the recruiter. Told 100k base, 125k total. Now got the verbal offer with the same. Wondering if I lowballed myself. Can anyone please help me what is the current base and total range for BA role in Seattle? YOE: 3 years outside the US, 0 in US - recent master's grad
When I joined few years before as L5 BA I got 180K but I have seen other posts where they were getting only around 125K. I had 10+ years of experience though.
You can only get low balled in the salary band for your level/role. This means that the business isn't going to create an offer outside of the planned compensation range for that role. New hires are hired into the HV2 total compensation target. Everything in life is negotiable, you just need to decide whether you are willing to walk away. Job postings in WA actually include the salary range. For your role it probably said The base pay for this position ranges from $59,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. 143k is top of band for SFO. Your top of band is likely in the 125k range. So 100k base seems appropriate give or take. There isn't that much wiggle room on base, but you can always counter. I would counter with a slightly higher base and add 30% to the RSUs (thus sign on) and see what happens
Thank you so much! By slightly higher base, do you suggest saying 110k? I am very new to this terminology, can you please elaborate more on what you mean by 30% to RSUs and thus sign on
Your total compensation (TC) is a combo of base salary (100k)+sign on bonus+restricted stock units=125k. RSU you’ll get throughout 4 years and more based on your annual performance eval. Negotiating base is harder so the guy above is suggesting to nego on increasing the bonus or the rsu you will get across 4 years. L5 BA band wise, this is a reasonable offer. Congrats buddy. Ps: 10% increase on base might be a stretch based on experience!
Was an L5 BA. Total comp was about 130 where my salary was about 115 base with about 15k stocks vesting each year after year 2.
I got 232 stocks. Do you think it's another metric?

Buses are important for the business.
Not buses 🚌 silly, busyness. Someone has to keep track of who’s staying busy. Otherwise, how do you think they’ll keep that pip factory going ?
