Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer L5 Python Questions
Having a phone screen next wednesday for L5 BIE at Amazon. Very comfortable with SQL especially window functions, CTEs and self joins so that wouldn’t be an issue My python knowledge though, is very basic and although I read here Python is super easy for BIE or might not get asked at all I’m very nervous if I’m getting asked. Any resource for BIE Python questions? I’m using strata scratch for SQL and been breezing thru them. Should I just email the recruiter that my python is not comfortable to do a test or just tell the interviewer straight up My python knowledge is just basic scripting for airflow thats it? Obviously I am still preparing python mostly but its still very hard to me
Prepare basic of Python and Pandas, should be more than enough
Like, how basic python? I only know as far as for loops and define functions, when it goes OOPs that defines class I’d be out of my depth Am actually doing a crash course on pandas too now
I had BIE phone screening recently, they didn’t ask Python. Although it mentioned in the prep material but it might have said optional.
did you have the prep call with the recruiter? Mine mentioned SQL and analytical questions but didnt mention python amazon prep site says python might be asked tho

recruiter did not mention python during prep call and it did not come out. listen to every word your recruiter have to say about the upcoming interview and prep accordingly aced the SQL but fucked up the analytical problem solving lmao. Caused a downlevel. My mistake was doing too much SQL prep plus python yet forgot to brush up stats concepts and methodology
So what kind of questions were asked in SQL and analytical as well, and how many for each? Also, this is for phone screening right? And does recruiter give you prep call as well as I’m not sure if I should mail recruiter regarding prep call?
'basic scripting for airflow' - OP you are good, among the BIEs I know, most L5s need tons of research to do this and most L4s don't even touch python
bruh, airflow scripting is literally just calling bunch of functions, declare variables, paste queries and define workflows even that i just copy paste old scripts and shift/rename things around 🤣
