Passed the remote tech interview, HR came back saying everything was great and the team want a final follow up phone interview that is pure LP's. Reading a lot of posts on teamblind makes the thought of going to work at Amazon a pretty scary prospect. I currently enjoy my job and I'm learning however I can't help but feel like getting Amazon on my CV would be beneficial even if it's as bad as everyone on here makes it out to be. My path into software engineering hasn't been traditional (I didn't study CS), studied my ass off for the tech interview and I feel like I may not get this opportunity again. Would love all your advice and also specifically any advice in relation to WLB when working for Amazon in the UK, is it any different to the US? Obviously all depends how the phone call goes but appreciate any advice. Thanks #career #tech
Amazon UK is wayyy different than Amazon in Seattle. WLB is better because of the UK labor laws you actually get vacation! The vibe is very different and it’s a good group over in EMEA :)
Thanks for the reply! Out of curiosity have you worked there?
Read all 14 Amazon LPs. Read them again. For each LP think about 2 examples in the past you demonstrated the LP. Your examples could be overlapping. Examples could be from past work experience, college projects etc. Think in STAR format. S - Situation. What was the situation? E.g. a bug surfaced in production T - Tasks. What specific tasks were to be done? In this case the bug was to fixed ASAP A - Actions. What specific actions you took? I repeat you took. Avoid saying “we” here and say “I did this...”. E.g. I debugged the issue, implemented the fix, tested it and deployed it to production R - Results. What were the results? E.g. The bug was fixed, latency went down, business improved by x%, new customers were onboarded. If possible give a number, it’s fine otherwise too. Don’t make up or bluff anything.
Thanks Febt. Great advice!
No problem. And Amazon is not scary. It’s one of the best places to start your professional career.
How much did you prep LC vs LPs?
Congrats, how hard were the questions they asked ? 🙂
Thanks! They were medium or easy with follow up into medium.
