I received an email from the Amazon Recruiting Coordinator confirming a phone screen interview tomorrow with the hiring manager. The email had instructions for dialing in using Amazon Chime. Numerous options were provided to download the app or one-click mobile dial in and entering a PIN afterwards. Does anyone know if these are "video" calls or simply audio calls? Am I expected to have a web cam available? Would like to hear from anyone that has had a similar experience with a recruiter. @amazon Thanks.
Audio calls
Technical phone screens are usually audio only, unless otherwise specified by recruiter.
It could be audio only or sometimes recruiter will call on your no. and then during the interview process for live coding he may ask you to get onto chime
If it’s with the recruiting coordinator, it will be chime audio call only If chime is used in follow up interviews then it’ll be video If you’re taking calls from your laptop, your laptop would normally have an inbuilt camera and you can use that to take the call Good luck!
It’s the second screen interview. I understand it will be with the hiring manager. Already had interview with recruiter. Instructions given were to either download app or mobile dial an 800 number and PIN.
Ok so just be prepared in case they decide to use video - hopefully you have a camera inbuilt in your laptop. Normally recruitment would advise you on whether it’s video or audio. Either way, dial in as normal and then you’ll be able to see if the HM has turned their video on in the chime screen, in which case you have the easy option of selecting the video button If you need.
All my chime interviews were video
My initial chime Interview was audio only. My upcoming final interview is also via Chime and will be video.
Updating my experience here Had my first phone interview (not screen) on Chime and although it didn’t specify audio or video I prepared for video and I’m glad I did because the interviewer turned his on. I turned mine on and told him I didn’t know if it was going to video or audio only and he said it’s usually audio only but since everyone is WFH and COVID, might as well do video (properly). So plan for video just in case. If you don’t want to do video, I suggest dialing in on your phone because your number will pop up instead of name and then they won’t be inclined to turn it into a video call.
How did the interview go? What role did you apply for?
Chime is a video platform, however it can also be used as audio only. my guess is that if it's an interview, it will be video. That was my experience during the interview process.
Could you talk more about your interview experience
It was a full day of video interviews, with six different people. each of them were in a conference room with a video camera, and I was in my home office on a webcam.
