Considering a contractor BIE role at Amazon. Is it worth my time? Slightly lower pay but thinking that the experience may be worth the temporary pay cut. TC: $45/hr for 9 month contract.
$45 is an insult. $75/hour minimum or don't go. Also, they will treat you like shit and work you like a slave.
Pretty much
Where are you located? I’ve managed BIE contractors in Seattle and even the least experienced/least skilled ones made at least double that. generally speaking amazon isn’t too keen on converting contractors to FTEs… not impossible, but don’t take this thinking it will automatically land you a full time job. Not to mention right now there are only a handful of teams hiring, and they all prioritize internal transfers over external applicants. In terms of the actual experience it may vary, but often times contractors do the less glamorous/tedious/manual work and you’re not plugged into the bigger picture/strategy so I’m not sure the experience would be that valuable outside of putting amazon on your resume. You would also have to learn and use our internal tools, which won’t be skills you can transfer elsewhere. I think you should pass or ask for a higher rate to make this worth your time.
10/10 response. Thanks!
Located in Austin btw.
I would only consider it if you’re contracting at Indeed too in a role at risk of being cut with no future opportunity to full time
Would be generally interested in people’s thoughts for having Amazon on the resume. That was where my head was going and really the only reason I’m considering it.
Now is not the time to polish your resume, I recommend that you focus on keeping your full time job until job market becomes more predictable. And contracting at amazon is not a resume boost anyway. You can polish your resume without leaving Indeed.
$45. Barely above min wage. That’s a joke with no life. Not worth it unless it’s close to 100 Don’t bring the avg down by accepting suck peanuts 🥜
What are the consequences of accepting the contractor offer and quitting once I have a better job?

Ok. Any other useful tips?
I’d ask your recruiter for a higher rate and then they can talk with Amazon. Convert a full time BIE’s package into hourly rate, considering that you are not paid for holidays not getting the benefits. So in general, you can get more cash as a contractor than full time employees to compensate for the lack of paid time off or stock, etc.
