Hey Amazonians. I heard that Amazon back-weights its equity grants. Does it do the same for equity refresh grants? Would really appreciate any insight.
Back weighed equity grant is compensated for by sign on cash in first two years. Just look at TC numbers for offer comparison. Refreshers are non existant until third year for most, equity value increase is your raise, so don't count on refreshers. Refreshers vest over 2 years, starting one year out, when they come, so mostly expect your fifth year comp to be impacted. Only way to get more stock in first four years at Amazon is a promotion, and even that only if stock hasn't increased too much in price or id it is followed by a top tier rating. In short, negotiate hard and do NOT take a low offer from Amazon, because refreshers will NOT normalize your comp.
