Amazon logistics cancelling all work on ~60 of 100 3-year pipeline new sites. Prepping for recession. For the first time considering consolidating existing stations (think UPS last mile sort centers for Amazon) to maximize capacity and cost. Leaving 200+ ops new hires with no site to go to. My Program Mgmt team has 4 sites to launch in next 3 years, but 9 people on my team. Not. Looking. Good. Short sale stock for sure, no way we can curb expenses in time for the topline to fall. Totally unprepared IPO. Are others seeing similar moves?
Idk what I just read
Op- Any chance that this could just be your org? I wouldn’t call it ‘recession’ as a whole
Just worked with a site on a 10 month+ delay of launch. They’re (approx 50 people) just traveling the country for any site that will take them
What team are you in op?
unprepared ipo? are you high? amzn ipo-ed many yrs ago
Good to know I’m not the only one confused af
You’ve got to rewrite this more clearly man. Few questions, 1) Amazon almost doubled its FCs in last two years due to high demand from COVID. Now that world is opening, consolidation makes sense right? It is a good thing that they are not aimlessly opening new sites, 2) what topline are you talking about? Retail topline? Logistics topline?, 3) did they mention that they are prepping for recession or is that your take?, and 4) Is it about curbing expenses? Or this decision is being taking in light of not enough demand to sustain 60 additional sites?
op wat you smoking
This reads like a psychotic episode. Consider rewriting.
It's for fc related direct only... and not staff for the FCs themselves , just creating new ones... they over spent and were negligent - they dont care ether if they hurt the business they are celebrating it and telling people to move to other parts... but I'm sure the other side , products aws investments is doing just fine !!
