Received positive feedback from interview loop. Initial Offer 185k base Sign on 190k year1 and 150k year2 Rsu 150 stocks with Amazon vesting schedule. Tc 400k target Location bay area Current tc: 350k Yoe 7 Recruiter mentioned there is room for negotiation and asked for competing offer details. (Competing offers are in the range of 360k to 400k) I'm interested to know what part of the offer I can to negotiate and any idea what is the max for L6 at Amazon? I have L5 loop left with google but I like the team at Amazon. Concerns: Negotiating out of band/really high offer puts me on the path of pip. Is this true? Thanks for your help Blind. I owe you. Cheers :) #hiring #jobopening #recruiting
Wow that is a big offer. Did you go to an Ivy?
Non ivy. Ivy grads might have their own companies by now making 10x. At least the few I know
L6 at 7 yoe is 🙌🏼
You can probably ask for another 50k-100k to get your TC 450-500k. It’ll come in the form of both increase in sign on bonus and RSUs. The main risk with going top of band is that your target TC (different than actual TC) will fall off after year 4 if you can’t obtain and maintain TT status. You won’t get pipped because you negotiated well.
This is valuable advice. I appreciate it. 500k tc for L6 is possible?
No, in Bay Area, L6 SDE max is 450k. Your current offer is 380k, so try to get 450k. Negotiating higher doesn't put you at any additional risk here since you are already in the upper side of band, so you are anyways expected to perform as an experienced L6.
Never join Amazon for less than 30% TC increase. For sure you'll work at least 50% more and never get any recognition for it.
Yeah I'll try for Google as my endgame. The team at Amazon is nice but I hear your perspective.
Op, are you SSE or Staff here? Negotiate on higher RSU.
Staff
I accidentally misquoted (higher) my unvested RSUs amount while discussing salary expectations. However I realized it later after logging into E-Trade and let my recruiter know. Will it be a problem? They asked for a snapshot of the unvested RSU values.
They asked you for a snapshot? You are under no obligation to reveal. "That is confidential information and I cannot reveal it. Just like how our conversation about this new opportunity is confidential. Morally, I do not operate that way".
Can that make them withdraw the offer? This is apple btw
Amazon withdrew mine once I tried to negotiate
I'm sorry to hear that. How did it happen?
Which team/org are you joining? I am looking for good teams in Bay area
Nice, SWE?
Yeah Swe 3
