Hey blinders, I joined amazon years ago, the old manager understand the stuff team’s doing and be able to properly shift priorities and communicate understand the problem well. Things start changing for me since the new manager join, feel hard to communicate and he would keep interrupt me during 1:1 meeting with questions already in the wiki, design doc. My old manager asked me send doc to him to review, but he didn’t even read through it and when it comes to sprint planing or 1:1 discussions, he would ask me every questions that already listed in the design. I feel exhausted and today in front of skip he mentioned he did deep dive with me, which essentially is an QA session Over an hour long and chatting which service is doing what, why we do things this way, all the info are in wiki and design doc. The worst part is he would jump to conclusions based on what I said, interrupting me and providing “instructions “. Start thinking about change now, I was in hope for an promotion but I just don’t see a path forward and afraid team dynamics going to change. #engineering #software #swe

all info are in the wiki? what's the problem in talking through your design with your manager no less
It’s not only the design itself, It’s complex process and he didn’t going through the design and wiki at all, basically I am going through everything with him, am I too picky here?
You will have to give an example
If you cannot even educate or manage your manager, then how can you survive? Who else do you want to entertain more than your manager? The compiler, the peers?
