Good offer. Boulder is one of the better locations IMO, culture and teamwise.
Good depending on what conditions require giving back the sign-on (usually it's paid upfront on first day, give it back if leaving within 1 year), and also depending what the WLB is. My ex-amazon coworker said that when he was oncall there you could be up for 16 hours in a row on his team.
Dumb question. What's the point of sign-on is paid up front if it is expected to be given back if leaving within 1 year? Why doesn't companies give the "sing-on" after you finish the year?
I used up all of my sign-on to cover moving expenses plus travel debt incurred in the months before I joined out of college. I desperately needed it *right then*, not a year later, and even if I’d left before the year was up and had to pay some of it back, it still made a huge difference when I needed it.

Not at Amazon...the sign on bonus is paid ratably over each year. Along with your annual base salary (divided by 12, paid out each month).
This is a very good offer, pretty much top of band for L6 Tech BD, even if it was in Seattle. I got a similar offer for Tech BD last summer. (160 base, 168.7 and 125 sign on for Y1 and Y2, $380k RSU)
