I have received an AWS offer in Dallas (Texas ) the recruiter says that this offer is very high L5 and you are at a good position to enter L6 within an year. Base 157K + 80K + 5 stocks for 1st year Base 157K + 60K + 15 stocks for 2nd year Base 157K + 40 stocks for 3rd year Base 157K + 40 stocks for 4th year What do you all think , Is this really high L5 and entry level L6.
YOE ? role ?
SDE-II , YOE is 15 but relevant exp is 8
yoe? which product?
SDE-II , YOE is 15 but relevant exp is 8
Very good offer, that too in Dallas
This is very good offer for L5 ( high side of L5)..
Anyone telling you that you can get promoted within a year is not being straight with you. Spent 5 years at Amazon and I can tell you that the promotion process is very difficult especially moving to L6 and above.
Couldn’t agree more Company has so much churn that even managers are very new to the company and don’t have clue how to make your case for promotion
You can prob push up base to 165
Do not join believing you will become sde3 in a year. And even if you did, your increase wound be abysmal. Join considering it will take you 2-3 years to become sde3 and you may see some increase in pay on 4th year. Amazon compensation policy is worst. It worked when stock was 2xed each year. FYI I got similar compensation with just different base and sign up. Stock units were 120 for 4 years so may be push on that if you decided to join.
+1 - One year promo is HR BS. It will takes you 2.-2.5 years if you are extremely good and get into team with super high impact. Realistically, it is 3-4 years.
An off topic question here. I hope you can shed some light, as I can't find much info online. Do you know, what is the base pay would be for L4 non-tech Senior Data Associate role and what would be the possible sign-up bonus and especially the number of stock I should expect? (I am completely lost) Would really really appreciate any insight :)
I am able to get 270k(4.5 yoe) in Austin with competing offers, so you can definitely try for more.
Are the SDE roles in Dallas mostly pro-serv (travelling, contract type work for clients, etc?) or something Amazon / AWS specific?
Can be both. The open reqs for Dallas right now seems to be AWS ops side of things though for SDE1/2
I agree
