I have an onsite interview for SDE-II, each round is of 45-50 mins with 15-10 mins of break and 4 rounds in total. I wanted to know how is the time is divided between different sections? For example 10-15 mins "About yourself" & "LP" 30-35 mins "Coding/System design"
I got about 30-40 min for coding/design questions in each round recently
Was it SDE II role? What's your YOE?
Not leveled yet, 5 yoe
Sounds about right.
5 intro 10 to 15 LP 30 to 35 coding/design 5 to 10 questions
5 minute introduction 20 minute LP 25 minute coding 10 minute questions For the design round, substitute coding with design. For the hiring manager round, 40 min of LP and more time for questions.
Thank you, my plan of attack is to dwell more on LP questions and intentionally give less time to coding, I have heard if you complete the code before time then they start asking follow-up questions and start making the questions hard.
I would caution against that. There is some flexibility in the interview times and they can just run over. Followups are a key part of the interview and often times, it's the followups that matter not the original question. For example for my Amazon phone screen, I got the 2 sum problem and 30 minutes of followups.
