Amazon Recruiter VS Apple Recruiter

Received an offer from Amazon on Tuesday June 1st, they want an answer by a end of this week... Also in process of interviewing with Apple. They know I have an offer on the table so they are doing their best to wrap this up by Monday/Tuesday. I will most likely ask Amazon to give me an extension but feel crappy for doing so because I actually also pressured them into getting back to me ASAP saying I had a deadline of Tuesday.. thing is the role with apple is a contract recruiter (12 month contract to hire) and the offer I received from Amazon is FTE. I saw a lot of opps with apple was contract that’s why I lagged and didn’t prioritize them but I think it’ll be worth it?? I’m not too worried about it being contract to hire bc even FTE jobs are not guaranteed forever. The performance has to be there and that’s what’s most important bc I feel conversion won’t be difficult @ that point. Only diff is benefits eligibility for the most part. if I make a move I really want it to be for the right opportunity.. thinking long-term. Any one familiar with how often apple converts contract recruiters to FTE? Thoughts on this whole situation? Heard career progression with Amazon is better than with Apple.. but that Apple pays way more .. about double in TC #HR #people #recruiting #recruiter #amazon #apple

Don't do it. Apple contractor != Apple FTE.

Ugh. Yea really thinking long and hard about it.. just sent into to the recruiter at Amazon asking for specifics of the offer bc they didn’t provide me much info.. super confusing . I was told Person A was HM then Person B.. but then offer came and Person A is listed on the offer. No info on level of position or the org/team I would be supporting. I also have been reading a ton of reviews.. I’m sure everyone’s experiences are different and depends on the team/org and manager but it seems More people are happier at Apple compared to Amazon? (Culture wise )

I, for one, worked in both. And unfortunately both are YMMV situation. There are pretty good orgs (yes even at Amzn there are) and many really shitty ones. In Apple jumping around is harder, I've had co-workers getting blocked. In Amzn if you are doing ok and stick to the ground rules moving around is piece of cake. In your case contract to hire is mostly empty promises.

So what was the final outcome?!? Did you take Amazon? Did you get an offer from Apple?

How much is apple paying for a contract role?

Facebook HODLETH Jun 25, 2021

$100/hr

That Amazon offer is pretty much maxed out for an L4 sourcing role. L5’s coming in now are making 125k total comp. Curious what the Apple contract rate is?

Recently joined Apple as a contract recruiter. TC $90/hr. They have Sourcer roles that are fully remote but keep in mind that for their Recruiter roles you will need to be back in their office when it’s time. I interviewed with 2 teams at Apple and both of them said their conversion rate is about 80-90% after 12 months (give or take). This was one of the main deciding factors for me to leave my cushy FTE role in a small startup. If there’s one main takeaway, it’s to really interview the hiring manager and team you would potentially be joining. I interviewed for 2 different teams at Apple, both for Recruiter roles. The team I joined (let’s call them Team A) was SO MUCH BETTER from a culture standpoint vs. the other one (let’s call them Team B). Team B’s hiring process was stupid. They clearly didn’t communicate with one another on notes and feedback because they asked me the same questions every round. Also they asked dumb questions like what my GPA was (I’d understand if I was a new college grad but I graduated 4 years ago) and why I didn’t interview or go back to a previous company I worked for. Definitely turned me off and although I failed that one, I wouldn’t have wanted to move forward anyways. Team A hiring manager and team dynamic was so much more open, welcoming, and friendlier. They sold me so well on their culture and the role. At one point I even withdrew from the process because things were piling up at my current work and I thought it just wasn’t the right time, but they really convinced me to stay and talk to everyone. I’m so glad I did, because I’m learning so much and would’ve regretted withdrawing looking back now. There’s company culture, and then there’s team culture. Just skimming this thread it seems like this Amazon team isn’t the greatest. Someone said that if they’re rude like that during the hiring process, imagine if you actually get the job. 100% true. Go with your gut OP. It usually is looking out for your best interest. Good luck!!
