I have been seeing a bunch of roles posted at Amazon I am interested in applying for, but they are all for Seattle, Virginia or DC. Does any Amazon person know if there is flexibility for remote or to work from a different Amazon office then what is posted on the job posting? Should I just apply and if a recruiter reaches out ask or is it not even worth applying?
You won't see remote roles again. Even folks that were hired fully virtual are being asked to consider relocating to Seattle or wherever the entire team is located, Sad!
No it's not an option. I am a hiring manager for an open role and my first statement is: in office is non-negotiable, so when would you relocate? FWIW I think it's fucking stupid. But I gotta play by the rules, and the rules are in office.
Even the people who live where there’s an Amazon office would rather be remote, so you’re competing not only against new applicants but also internal staff. Unless the role description specifically states allowing WFH permanent, I’d assume it’s a hybrid situation best case and in-person 5x/week worst case
