Current: Senior Dev at MLP (NYC) TC $220k, YOE 9 I cleared the Amazon online assessment for a hiring event in Boston (25-27 March) and I was confused about one aspect of my profile. I am a Photographer when I'm not at work and I've worked with my creative team for 8 years now. Could I narrate scenarios from my experience as a Photographer/owner of the Photo company? Also, I'm currently rebranding, and developing my website in-house (will self-host), could these apply to the LP questions? It's my first post here, pardon me if I've missed something. S Edit 1: had the TC wrong. Updated. #amazon #amazononsite #hiringevent
I dont know much but I guess it is about the balance. For scenarios that talk about customer focus, team work or team conflicts - I believe your experience with your photography team should be relevant. All the best. Btw, how were the online assessment questions?
2 leetcode medium problems. First was a bfs-based matrix problem and the other one was a substring matching problem.
Tell me about the time when you were Obsessed with your Customer and followed them home and hid in the bushes to get the best shots, was it because you Insist on the Highest Standards, or you were just stalking them?
I'm hiring content writers for blind, dm if interested to interview!!
Absolutely. The LP questions don't have to tie specifically to engineering situations. The goal is for you to demonstrate you have the character traits the interviewer is testing for. Two caveats to be careful of - stay away from using personal life examples ("I managed my household so well..."). Keep it professional, but volunteer or external professional experience like your photography is great. Also be careful about drawing ALL of your examples from outside of work - it subtly undermines your work experience and makes it seem like you haven't experienced much in your job.
Thanks for the reply! Last time I was at Amazon for an interview (9 months ago, NYC), the interviewer wasn't particularly impressed with the scenarios from my Photography experience and specifically said - "How about at your current company?". I got a vibe that he wanted Technical aspects only. Just want to make sure I'm not starting on the wrong foot with these alternate experience/stories.
