Hi, I've received an offer from a recruiter for the SDM position in Seattle. TC - 325K (year 1 estimated compensation ) I'm thinking this is a low ball game, planning to ask around 380-400K TC (some of Amazonians mentioned in blind they can go up to this range ). is it too much or okay ? #amazonsalary
325k is midband is Seattle, not lowball exactly, but is what Amazon will offer non-premiere candidates without specialized skills or other FAANG companies on resume. 380-400k is around top of band in Seattle and will require competing offers and a strong candidate but it is not crazy or unreasonable. (In the Bay Area, that would be midband, and is easy to get)
This is the exact information I had.
They may not raise the total comp but might give additional bonus for first couple of years. If you can’t get higher pay request for higher bonus.
Ask for this: 160k base, 200k first year sign on, 150k second year, and 240 RSUs
Do you have competing offers, relevant experiences, or something you can leverage besides sole blind posts saying they got X offer so I should too? Just because someone got a higher offer doesn’t mean you are automatically entitled to the same offer. They may have had competing offers, better interview performance, or relevant experiences. That said, it never hurts to ask for more as long as it’s reasonable, though your chances of succeeding will be higher if you have leverage.
Yes I've competing offers with me
Great just bring that to them and give them some bs saying that you really liked the team blah blah, but it’s hard for you to make a decision given that the other offer is X higher.
