Amazon Tax Platform Team
Does anybody here work for the Tax Platform team in Amazon? Is there decent WLB in the team, and is there a PIP culture? Thank you!

The work is to process invoices ? I think currently many teams are migrating from maws to naws.
I worked in tax for an undefined number of years. Tax has some of the best managers around and is really really chill. At least it was when I left. The coworkers are generally really cool as well. You just won't get to work on any cool stuff using cool new tech. My experience was with the team in Seattle.
Do you know if there are any new projects with newer technologies in the team?
I've heard rumors of an AWS project with the team in Vancouver, but that's about it.
Avoid anything related to tax systems. I am doing an AWAY project on tax systems and I am surprised to see such bad culture. Some issues I see are 1) lot of blame game from upper management. In some meetings, i felt like my manager was bullied by tax manager 2) they are not aware of projects from their sister teams. This is the main problem as i have seen couple of nearly completed projects scrapped due to conflicts and framework changes from other teams 3) Most of the SDEs doesn’t help each other and try to throw others under the bus. I dont like people pushing others to answer a question in pod hours 4) its a very old legacy systems and most of the time i get half baked information coz no one knows whats going on 5)No Native aws or latest tech implementations. To my surpise, they dont even understand the need for newer auth systems 6) teams are dispersed all over the world. If you are doing a bigger project, it is tough to coordinate with multiple teams as responses are delayed a lot
Which office are you from?
I'll be the first to admit, tax is pretty bad with away teams. When I was on tax, I personally had to work with 12 away teams. As a dev. The away team experience is not the same as being a tax dev though
