Pray for folks at Tesla
I was planning to relocate to Seattle by end of May. Recently, Amazon asked all its employees to work from home until Oct. 2, if possible. Also, with Washington lockdown extended till May 31 and Amazon’s wfh until October, I am expecting my onboarding will be virtual. Has Amazon shifted completely to virtual onboarding? It would really help to hear from someone who has been through virtual onboarding. For others, when are you expecting to end wfh? #covid-19 #coronavirus
I did my virtual onboarding recently and it was well planned. You’ll be provided with everything you need. Make sure you reach out to your HM and onboarding buddy with any questions you have. Best of luck!
Did you physically relocate or are you working remotely from other city/state?
Working remotely from a different state. It doesn’t matter where you’re working from if you’ll be WFH anyway. But make sure you’re manager is on the same page with your moving plan
I also did virtual onboarding. It’s fine- actually very impressed at their onboarding process. Try and get your amazon laptop before you start. The virtual workspace they set you up with for remote access is horrible.
How many days prior to the start date did the onboarding team contact you?
I think I got an email the day before.
Do they give u an option to chose between mac and windows ?
Yes. I’m in a non tech role, so I would’ve required special approval for the Mac. I didn’t care that much so I went the PC route.
Hey tQOM54, would you mind telling me, is it a hiring manager who reaches out about the choice of the operating system type, or an IT team that would be shipping you the laptop? Also, can you somehow choose the brand of the PC? Do they give you any sort of a brand option (Like Lenovo, Microsoft, HP etc.) Thanks in advance!
I am in the same situation. I haven't accepted the job offer yet and will be talking with my recruiter this evening. One thing I want to clarify with them is when I will be required to move. Given that the WFH policy is extended to October and possibly beyond that, I want to make sure that I am given the option to not move until the WFH order is lifted. I just don't want my manager to arbitrarily decide when I have to move. Does anyone have insight on this?
I’m in the same boat as you. But I want to relocate and start working from office ASAP. Cuz I don’t know how performance will be impacted when you wfh in a new environment where you haven’t met any of the stakeholders f2f.
I was given the choice by my recruiter and hiring manager due to the wfh. Our lease is ending in 4 weeks so we opted to relocate in 2, but was told we could stay in place and I could onboard from here if I wanted to. Curious how the virtual onboard goes once we do get out there and what it’ll be like in Seattle given the current situation - I want to explore!
When did you get your emails about Virtual Onboarding? My start date is exactly 2 weeks away and I haven't gotten anything yet. (I finished i-9 and MyDocs already though)
Did you fill an address to send your IT equipment to?
I sent my address to my hiring manager via email
Starting next week haven’t received any email from on-boarding team .
What are included in the package shipped to you? I only finished mydocs sign. And wondering what other equipments do I need to get myself. Like trackpad, leyboard. Webcam. Etc? Any swag 😉
How did they make you take your photo for your employee badge? Mask on?
Following as i might end up in the same situation soon
