I'm curious if anyone outside of HR and employee services received this option?

An it has started for Amazon. The funny money is drying up really fest. Next step massive layoffs of SWE’s????

I would be strongly considering that offer if my employer offered it. I've worked here long enough that I would get the better part of a year's comp as severance. I could take a year or two off and then start reapplying to tech jobs whenever the economy rebounds. Sounds like a nice sabbatical to me.

I would love this offer id be gone in a heartbeat

Right? My partner is the one at Amazon... I'm wondering if there's any way he can proactively ask to be put on a layoff? He has a job offer elsewhere at somewhere recession -friendly, but it's a huge pay cut. That money would mean a lot to us right now...

That’s not how severance works. As soon as he starts the new job, severance gets deducted

Aren’t they offering same package with layoffs?

Red Clay StressALot OP Nov 17, 2022

Not exactly? This is paid up up-front; I'm not sure what you get if you leave externally if laid-off during the 60-day period? If you're an SDE, you have a small chance of finding an internal transfer, but I doubt you do if you're HR.
