Which company would have more learnings and career progress from design perspective.
I think you have way more “stuff” to work on at Microsoft versus Amazon
What do you want to work on? I haven’t been at Microsoft but I’m around a lot of former MSFT designers now and can give insight based on that.
Neither
Not everyone can be as lovely as Lyft.
Both would heavily depend on which team.
Amazon App Store vs. Microsoft Office (may be mobile)
This is accurate. Amazon is working on more interesting things, Microsoft has a more evolved design language and culture.
Which one do u suggest? YOE :5yrs
You’ll learn more at Amazon. You might get more stability at Microsoft.
All the designers at Amazon are from Microsoft so I don’t think it actually matters
You can’t go wrong, honestly. Pick what you want to work on and if you’ve met the people, make a decision based on them. Amazon has varying design cultures, but I always found UX to be well-respected if you know what you’re talking about. It’s an extremely outcome-oriented environment.
Based on what I’ve seen from the slew over overpaid former Microsoft designers at Oracle, they’re just a bunch of arrogant visual designers making Dribbble shots and slick looking stuff that engineers can’t build.
Good riddance then. The designers I know are not pixel monkeys
As others have said it depends on the product and team in MSFT. Your opportunities are very broad for a designer here.
Orange versus Tangerine! Which is the better fruit?
