Amazon adds new leadership principles

"Leaders have a vision for and commitment to their employees’ personal success, whether that be at Amazon or elsewhere." Bold to threaten PIP in your leadership principles.

These new LPs are super wordy and fairly vague. Strive to be earths best employer seems more like a management mantra than something people at the bottom could actually execute on; also not exactly sure what interview questions will be scoped around this for the masses. Success and scale bring broad responsibility…this is a statement not a principle. Also it sounds super day 2. Also terms like “better” are so subjective; we work at a company that is responsible for many small companies going out of business…this certainly isn’t “better” for them, but it probably is “better” for our customers, but even that may not be true long term. The vagueness of this LP means it can be wielded by anyone for any purpose. Also the essence of what it tries to convey seems aptly captured in “earns trust” and “customer obsession” already

Day 2 LPs

These sound like they come from marketing, not bezos.

We can drop all technical interviews now. From now on it would be 5 rounds of LP interviews to find the best slave

The new LPs are described in more than 3 sentences. That wasn't the case before, and it made sense

LMAO I love how he’s probably known about all of these issues for the longest time and just didn’t give a shit for one reason or another. Now that he’s about to leave he suddenly decides to point out these core flaws in the Amazon model to appear like a good person and is like “well I tried, it’s your problem to solve now Jassy” Day 3 company

It’s a label for those that got PIPed that if you’re PIPed then stfu and go elsewhere and we will pretend we care for your success elsewhere. Gotta give it to my HRBP for successfully strategizing how to change PIP label.
