Amazon and panic attacks

I joined AWS team few months ago as a data scientist. Thanks to Covid, staying doors, going crazy and insane work hours I've been getting panic attacks, breathlessness because of my manager. She's been putting me down and calling me worthless because of some things I do not know which is out of my area of expertise (I'm into ML and that is what I interviewed for and all the team does is analysis and ETL) I don't know what to do. Can't jump the ship because of Covid situation. Also haven't found many data scientist roles for internal transfer. Edit : Level - L4 #tech #amazon #pip #mental #stress

It's l4, most likely your manager is trying to push you.. Not a great deal should be expected from you. Imo if the manager continues like that switch intern asap. Not all amazon like that

I would recommend to interview inside your company and with another companies immediately. If your manager doesn’t respect you it’s time to leave. Especially if you do at your job not what you like to do.

Your manager shouldn't be putting you down. Try to get your manager to give you feedback via email/chime (basically in writing). If they continue to give you abusive verbal feedback, reply each time in writing quoting them and ask them for their constructive criticism and for them to outline their expectations. Save these emails.

She is being smart about it. She only calls that over chime.

Amazon Ch33tah May 22, 2020

You can combat that by quoting her each time afterwards in email. "XXX, your feedback in our one on one dated ## included this "quote" for project ZZZ. Which is out of scope according to my list of responsibilities and expected skills. Can you give me more details on why you believe that feedback was appropriate and provide concrete steps in how you think I can acquire those skills within your XXX time frame?"

Clear signs of pip. Start planning about alternatives

Try to get her to call you worthless in writing. Grounds for unfair dismissal

I was in a similar position several times and the problem that you cannot fight since you feel inefficient doing the job l you don’t like, doing it slow and inefficient, etc. The best option is to find more appropriate job with a good manager.

Wtf? Do managers here actually call people names?

Stop using COVID as excuse for being lazy. My friends are getting multiple offers even in this situation. You can absolutely find a new job. Or atleast try.

Amazon aKPj66 May 22, 2020

How is he lazy if he works at amazon which requires you to work like 80 hours a week

OpenDoor India#1 May 22, 2020

Where did OP say 80 hours work week?
