I joined Amazon at an L6 IC position in May last year. I have no idea of how annual reviews work at Amazon, who is eligible, is salary revision on the cards etc. I filled in the Forte feedbacks and my own summary recently. The tool says you will have a manager discussion and rating around May, which is when I will also complete 1 year. Can someone explain to me what exactly happens behind the scenes and what are the possibilities in terms of compensation?
I know I won't get PIPed.. Our team is on low resourcing and needs to hire aggresively...got a lot of new funding as well... My question is more from a compensation perspective
For compensation, they match your TC for the year with target comp. If it matches or is above the target, you may get 1-3% raise and may get some RSU vesting from next year or 2 years later (depending on how your next year comp looks). But there are no guarantees RSU refreshers.
Thank you and if it is below the target? They will increase it to reach target?
Basically first 2 years you donโt get anything
It's either PIP or Watch Your Back
Tc or gtfo
They just finished having OLR which was based on 2020. You will be ranked based on mostly your performance in 2020. First couple of months of 2021 won't really factor much into your rating unless you messed up big time. There are softer reevaluations through the year but the yearly OLR is pretty much done and your rating is already locked. Forte is irrelevant. Your compensation based on your OLR rating will be discussed with you in the next April/May.
How is the OLR process? Do they use 3 or 5 rating system?
At Amazon, always be ready to be PIPโed, and you will never be disappointed.
