Amazon application status

I noticed a pattern in Amazon application status in the last 2 months. Thrice my application status changed to 'Under Consideration' and the next day the job was removed from the portal. Out of these 3, once I got a call for first telephonic round (after a lot of confusion regarding scheduling) which sounded more like a formality and no further rounds. Any insights on this by Amazonion! May be sometime, they have an internal candidate finalized for the role but they have to mandatorily interview 1-2 external candidate.
