I got a long story about how Amazon just put my account on hold and nobody is answering me. Looking for help from the Blind community! Here is what happened: So I'm a permanent resident(AKA. Green card holder) here in the United States. Working and paying taxes for the last 5 years and getting ready for my citizenship. Last month, out of nowhere, Amazon closed my developer account which I wasn't even using. They sent me an email saying they did that due to sanctions!!! At first, I thought it's because of my country of origin ( I'm originally from the middle east) So I sent them an email saying that these sanctions and regulations do not apply to me. But I realized, they also put my shopping account on hold! All my Alexa devices (I have 3) are now disabled, I can't access my books that I bought in Kindle and I can't use the prime membership that I paid for the whole year already. Calling customer service didn't help since they said they can't do anything besides sending an email to the account specialist which supposedly going to contact me within 24 hour ( which never happened) They replied to my appeal with the same email they sent initially ( seems like they never read my email). I've sent many more emails asking them if they need any proof or any documents to unlock my account and I never received a response. I don't even care about my developer account, But I want my shopping account back! I even tried contacting my friends who are SDE in Amazon, and they said they couldn't find anyone and their emails are not being answered either! I just wonder, what can I do now? It's been more than a month and I have no access to anything. I know I can open up a new account and buy prime again, but how about my books on Kindle?! I wonder if anyone has any idea on what can I do or if there is someone who might be able to help me out here. I just need a person with authority to look into my account. Please let me know if you have any ideas! #tech #amazon

Have one of your friends create a SEV2
Literally the most appropriate response
I wish that was doable.
Ask on Twitter publicly until they respond. Maybe you can even sue them. You’re probably not the first.
Did already, no answers! Thinking about trying Reddit too.
Tweet about it, share the post here, we'll do the rest.
More than the shopping account, it pisses me off that Alexa and Kindle devices that you paid for, are now paperweights, and the books you bought are not usable. That is the problem we are all becoming slaves to - whether it's Google's orb, or Facebook's Oculus devices, they shouldn't be able to disable a device and content that we paid for. This should be a fundamental consumer right.
That is exactly my issue too! I recently bought a bunch of books too. Or my whole house was connected to Alexa, and now I can't fully enjoy my smart home :/
Man, sorry to hear that. But you just gave me a new start-up idea 💡
Reach out to the risk management team. There will be a manager or senior manager to reach. You can always use an attorney… ITARs are confusing for some. 🤦🏽♂️
Sue them
As a private company, I don't know if that is even possible! I think they can refuse to service anyone they want.
Maybe check if anybody can represent your case. If you didn't get response from amzn within two weeks. I always wondered whether to buy ebooks with DRM enabled. Now I know the answer.
