There are not many PM contractors at Amazon, and contractors generally aren’t used the way they are at (e.g.) Microsoft: usually you are doing something strictly temporary, like covering a LoA. I don’t know any FTE who started out as a contractor, but I would expect it’s like most places, if you do well and they need you, then you have an advantage over other applicants. You will still need to go through a full loop however.
