I’ve been mostly an Oracle dba with a bit of postgresql through out my career. But with variety of databases (rdbms and nosql) other than oracle being used by most of the companies hosted in aws cloud, I’d like to focus on preparing for dbs-c01 certification i.e. amzn database specialty cert. Can someone please share their opinion if this certification would be valuable in the market. I understand that real hands-on resolves gaps during technical interviews but just want to ensure if I’m on the right path. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance. Pivot to a sysDev type role rather than being specialised as DB. DBs as you say increasingly will be managed as a service with devs handling the remaining work
Any pointers to sysDev focused role you can provide would be helpful. Are you talking about DevOps area?
Yes devops area may be good . I myself trying to learn those . I’m oracle dba too with some postgresql and MySQL experience and have AWS db speciality cert along with OCI certs but none of them are so useful to get you job . AWS professionals cert may be useful in getting you job but not so much others . Widening (not in depth ) experience in dev ops may be helpful
I don’t know about that cert but AWS cert in general (Solutions architect, cloud practitioner…) are well seen by some companies. Some of them specialize in database management but all of them cover something cloud.
Thanks for the comment. I do have some OCI certs done but there isn’t much demand going for oracle cloud currently. Hence the thought of eventually moving over to aws cloud
