Hi, I'm a minority shareholder of an LLC and I also reside on the board of directors. The company is not public and I do not foresee it going public anytime soon. The company is also not based in the US (based and operates in France). I wonder if this would cause any problems with Amazon. The company is in real estate/construction. I am currently not salaried, but would there be any problems if I get salaried? PS: I work at Audible but will transfer to Amazon later in the year. #llc #amazon #audible #boardofdirectors #shareholder
Amazon has a policy that prohibits employees being on the board of directors for a for profit company. It’s called the outside activities policy. If you cannot agree to the policy you will have to ask for a legal exception which is managed via ticketing. A recruiter or someone internal could submit on your behalf. If not approved, you would need to take steps to wind down your activity.
Thank you for your response. I can resign from my Board of Directors position since it's not paid if it gets to that point. But, will being a minority shareholder would still cause problems?
Probably not if it’s just a passive investment.
