Would one be able to push back the date on an exploding offer from amazon? Got an initial offer with numbers, via email, but no official document. Recruiter just mentioned there was an expiration date, that was never mentioned in writing. What’s the success rate in being able to push back the deciding date by? Also, how’s the work environment in NYC? The initially 10 vacation days seems pretty rough...
Which team at Amazon? YoE, comp numbers? And the answer to your question, yes they are usually flexible. I got an offer 2 weeks back from AWS Seattle, they are okay with giving me more time
My manager was cool with me using sick days as vacation, for "mental health". Vacation jumps to 15 days after a year, and you also get some use it or lose it personal days, which I think you start off with 3. Numbers might change as you are in NYC.
I never officially applied for vacation days when I was there, but it totally depends on your manager. Some are cool with it while some are anal about applying ahead of time
What’s an exploding offer? Does it blow up when you read it or merely inflate?
I thought OP meant a competitive offer 😂
“This offer will self destruct in 48 hours.....”
I had an exploding offer from amazon. The recruiter said it will expire within 48 hrs from when it was received. I told her not to give me an offer yet as i have interviews with other companies. After 4 days or so she verbally gave me an offer and said it’s no longer an exploding offer. It’s just a recruiting tactic from my experience.
It’s because you were there top candidate, but had another candidate looping right behind you. Hiring managers only get so many headcount, so if a candidate takes forever to decide, they’ll move on to choice #2
If you didn’t accept it within 48 hours then it’s probably no longer valid.
Sounds like recruiter BS to me lol. If they are willing to pay you X today, they'll be willing to pay you X next week
Well to be fair all offers have an expiration. It’s ok for them to make you commit one way or another.
When was your on-site and when did you receive your offer?
Most managers I've seen at Amazon give a lot of 'comp' days. Essentially extra vacation days for working hard. I've also had managers not require me to put in any hours when taking days off. The vacation policy isn't that bad. I'm sitting on the maxed banked possible right now (160 hours) and I have no plan to put them in when I take days off
Just 10 vacation days? Wth
I’ve heard this is par. Amazon is where you go to burn out
Most companies start with 20 vacation days! How could this belong to faang with this vacation days?
