Couple of my juniors from SJSU got hired as SDE2 at Amazon. They were just asked 2 questions on hackerrank. Than on onsite.. they were asked to explain the same hackerrank problems. Has Amazon reduced its hiring bar??
New grad hiring bar is inconsistent to low. Experienced hire is just inconsistent across orgs. Amazon has to hire a LOT of people this year, so that probably requires the bar to be lowered without opening large remote offices.
Exactly this
No. It's just a gameable system and kids are gaming it
Amazon doesn't hire SDE2 out of school.
Unless they already have experience. Sde2 here graduating this month
I've inte4viewwd candidates for this, it's SDE1 college hire not SDE2
Wrong info. Sde2 are not hired out of school
Most International students don't clear their visa interviews for SJSU .. I always thought it must be a crappy school .. Am I wrong ?
Interview process is lagging
I have seen my classmates flying Amazon onsite without a phone screen .. onsite was a 3 hr coding challenge to build a web portal in a team of 3-4 ppl ... 1 smart guy did not crack as he was with 2 other dumb guys , and 1 dumb guy cracked it as he was with 2 other smart ones ...
so you think you are better than others? use interviews as tests to judge people's skills.I have seen both smart and not so smart people from sjsu same thing applies for UCLA or USC.. also not everyone can go to MIT and Stanford yes?
Amazon is a hire quick, fire-fast type of place. We also experiment quite a lot with the hiring process. SDE 2 on-sites are typically 3-6 rounds. Is that not what their on-sites were like?
Nope.. the onsite was only 1 round.. explaining the same problem that they coded on hackerrank before
Hmm that's fishy. I would not be happy if I was the hiring manager for those candidates....
