Amazon internal transfer
I just got a call from the recruiter that I passed the on-site (L4 downgrade) and they are setting up calls with some interested teams. My main reason for wanting to join Amazon is so I can move to India after a year or so. How easy is this? Has anyone moved from a US location to India? How soon after joining can I ask for a transfer? Yoe: 3 TC: 200k
Assuming your Level is correct. I don’t know if 4s can hop internationally or not with relo bennies.
That's a first. I see most people doing the reverse.
International relocation needs L5 or above and 1 year completion in hired location. It was discontinued for L4s since a lot of them started misusing it by moving to US after 1 year completion.
But if you are moving to your home country it is allowed

Congratulations on offer . L4 positions are few these days so expect a delay in team match. Also, moving to Amazon India as an international transfer is easy once you're L5. I noticed that you were down leveled. That means you interviewed for L5 and didn't meet the bar. That also means you have potential to be an L5 in a year or so. Get that promotion and then move to India.
Is there any criteria at Amazon India to do L1-A for candidates? Eg L6 and above only?

@pgi, do you need to have been 1 year in the L5 role, or 1 year in the role, regardless of how long you were L5? For example if you are L5 for a few months, but over 2 years in the L4 role can you still qualify for relocation?
What if there are any visa issues? Will Amazon allow to move back to India unless visa issues are sorted?
Asumming OP is citizen of India, no Visa involved. He will be just working as normal Amazon India employee after relocation
How easy is it to move from one US location to another once you join amazon ?
Very easy. Also you don't ask. You find an opening in India, talk to HM and once he agrees then you apply on internal site. Then Amazon takes care of relocation and rest

You keep unvested RSUs. Base is adjusted
