If this is true, I donāt see anything wrong with this. Unlike us they are operating at a very high level at extremely larger stakes. So this kind of passion is expected at work

It 100% trickles down. As a former AWS employee experienced this over and over. Next level employees model their behavior based on the L10s and L12s. Amazon is a great place for the ones who take pleasure in inflicting this pain on a daily basis. It is also great for managers since they have unlimited power at the 7 and 8 levels. No need to coach folks nor mentor them. Pip folks at the slightest hint of things going downhill and squeeze the next poor newbie in the team. Folks think this is an over exaggeration and they will only believe this if they get to experience this for themselves by joining Amazon.
I would walk through fire for a leader like this.
