All the negative aspects described on Blind are indeed accurate. Unsupportive team members and insincere managers, a toxic atmosphere, inadequate documentation, and an environment seemingly designed to hinder newcomers' learning. The push to return to the office or face termination/PIP is constant. I am prepared to leave this shithole. Any Bay Area tech companies hiring right now? Can anyone refer me to tech companies in the Bay Area? TC 300k YOE 10 #software #swe #engineering #amazon
You're clearly the problem not Amazon if you didn't include your TC

DM for Affirm referral!
Are they decent?
Yep, I like the work culture here!
Welcome to the thunder dome
Let me ask you this - what company have you worked for that is better?
How could you not? Worked for that shit stain of a company for 1.5 years, everywhere before and since was better.
Amazon is a place where it's really hard to hide - mostly due to all the goals and dashboards and constant reporting on goals and dashboards. Most companies aren't like this. It works for some, it doesn't for others.
You'll be PIP'ed, RTO or not
how long you have been w/ AMZN ?
Slightly more than a year but it seems to me that people either leave before 2 years or stay longer…need to be political to stay
I worked there 6+ years, Amazon is definitely a much better company than it is painted on Blind.
I have worked 1 year for Amazon, and it’s much better than depicted on Blind. Except for internal tooling 🙄 I want Bazel or smth similar.
1.5 years here, and I've worked with multiple different aws service teams- while my own team is not bad, I've definitely seen behaviors while interacting with different teams that's closer to what I hear on blind. Tldr, YMMV depending on your team/management.
I am going through the same thing at Amex. This is the worst company I have ever been in
If I may ask, what is bad with Amex and which org you in
^ I’d like to know too
Out of curiosity, when did you realize Amazon is a terrible place to work? How many days after joining? I assume you joined with an open mind and gave benefit of doubt.
6 months in when there are team restructuring
Standard practice. Welcome!
