There’s no ways around it. This company has shown time and time again that they are about the branding and marketing and not serious about the policies and practices. Are they: -measuring who is leaving Amazon and why? -letting white women lead diversity efforts? -serious about non white men on the S-team? -questioning their forte stack ranking? -offering support to traumatizd communities?
Look at any company and you typically see an exec board full of nothing but white people really...it’s just the way it is for right now. They just do as much diversity as they need to “legally” provide
What is the correct course of action if you have a team of white execs who are all performing well? I understand the desire for greater diversity, but it also feels weird to demote/fire certain people because they aren’t in a target demographic
I mean, personally I think it will put companies into 'day 2' status when they decide to give critical roles to people based on anything other than merit. There is some space to play here but not a whole lot - I don't think anyone will argue that indira nooyi is not qualified to be on the board of amazon. However, I think at lower levels (e.g. sr manager/director/IC) it makes sense to promote diversity as a way to capture talent that is otherwise more fungible. Other measures like offering more flexible employment opportunities, female role models, and benefits targeted at young mothers is a no brainer when it comes to attracting 50% of the labor force.
Yeah as LinkedIn said nobody is actually serious about diversity, it’s just about corporate image
Color me surprised.. water is wet.
Diversity is a scam
Diversity only divides people between those who care about it and those who don’t give a flying fuck
Amazon does care about diversity, but for different reasons https://www.newswars.com/leaked-amazon-whole-foods-docs-workforce-diversity-helps-prevent-unions/
War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. All-white-females leading diversity efforts is diversity.
This is not specific to Amazon. All big tech companies are like this unfortunately. It is sad that most of diversity champions/leaders are those who understand nothing about the struggles a diverse talent is going through 😑😕
My entire team is Indian. I’m the odd man out (I’m white). You’re right there is a absolutely no diversity in this company.
Honestly don’t think anyone is serious about diversity. Some are serious about brand image and as a result give diversity some treatment
Helloo - Adobe most definitely is. :)
Microsoft definitely is!
