This is silent layoff every company has engaged in. They all have raised the bar for “meeting expectations”. As a result more people are being put on PIP or getting fired without severance.
Happening here too. Hard to find IC coasters these days.
Maybe people do coast in Google but it’s impossible to coast in amazon, in fact the people I have recently seen being put on focus are very talented and definitely meet the bar. But the pressure from senior management to cut down workforce, forces them out. And as I said these people were talented and ended up getting job at Meta or elsewhere.
Since this guy became CEO, what has he been done? I only hear layoffs.
Sums it up right there.
What else are you expecting from dumb MBAs who knows nothing but politics?
Amazon used to have 6% URA. we are just reverting back to normal after 2021-2023
Most tech companies Lowered the hire bar 2020 - 2022. And now they are course correcting by increasing the performance bar. This is happening across the board, not exclusive to Amazon. A lazy article
This is how real journalism works imo. If you only have internal data and reports on one company, then you report on that company. Irresponsible to make assumptions and extrapolate the trend to all the other companies. That's just sensationalizing since there's no evidence of that happening. Unless you have some yourself. I'm not even sure how you'd get this information about a large sample size of companies.
A terrible company does terrible things. What else would we expect from Amazon of all companies? TC: 105K

You couldn’t pay me enough to work at Amazon.
That’s not a secret
