Are you shooked?

ServiceNow bubub OP Dec 13, 2019

mad shooked. they are hiring sociology and geography majors now. guess not enough to PIP

Smart to keep the coders they actually want

Boeing FieldLover Dec 13, 2019

I'm pretty sure the bar was removed. You dont even have to go onsite now for new grad, it's all virtual. I just did an onsite loop for L5 with Amazon today, no way I'm joining that shit show even though I expect an offer. Got an offer from MSFT, going there instead.

Saying amazon is shitshow is pretty bold coming from Boeing lmao

Boeing FieldLover Dec 13, 2019

Did you not read the part about joining Microsoft? Why do you think I'm leaving Boeing. Who the hell works at Cisco besides H1Bs.

Cisco JH🥭 Dec 13, 2019

Lol but not you huh. If you’re within 1-2 years of college they will hire you at new grad level if you think it will be easy

Boeing FieldLover Dec 13, 2019

Not true, I have 1.5 YOE I just did an L5 loop today and have interviewed but withdrew for an L6 role with 1 YOE.

ServiceNow bubub OP Dec 13, 2019

i already got an offer for new grad this year

So funny how none of you are in Amazon tho, keep talking 😂

Apple Rocket231 Dec 14, 2019

Like Amazon is something to be proud of. My OA and final round were all LC Easy’s (maybe even easier than LC easy somehow).

Ubisoft yLcC27 Dec 14, 2019

Lol, a friend got those 3 OA then virtual call for Canadian Office. He was actually surprised it was easy

Blend AHDT48 Dec 13, 2019

Agreed. had a 30 minute Virtual Onsite and that’s it. Expecting a huge wave of lay-off of these new grads in the next two years from Amazon....

Boeing FieldLover Dec 13, 2019

Wait I knew they dont do physical on sites anymore, but are you saying that they dont even screen? Its 30 minutes??? How can they possibly maintain quality with that. From 5-6hrs of interviews to 30 mins and its virtual lol.

Because new grads have the most churn. Everyone knows its quite easy to PIP a new grad.

Facebook zlatan123 Dec 13, 2019

Hey I've interned at 2 FAANG and got resume rejected...

Amazon tenseflows Dec 13, 2019

You just got lucky ;)

Facebook zlatan123 Dec 13, 2019

No, I desperately needed a job (no return offer from latest FAANG internship)

Anybody from Amazon can explain?

Facebook z@rk Dec 13, 2019

Amazon - trespassers are hired!

Capital One rhythm Dec 13, 2019

Lowering the bar across higher levels as well or just new grads only?

Infosys BRY47 Dec 13, 2019

L5 still needs onsite rounds and pass the debrief afterwards.

Amazon CulStryBro Dec 13, 2019

Just new grads. I have seen five L5 loops fail in a row. One with an L4 downlevel. New grad is an easy path in but 30% will end up as PIP fodder for their team.

Amazon xbpd62 Dec 14, 2019

No idea what the process is now. I have seen a handful of new grads, most need lots of handholding for a long time, but occasionally there's a good one. Haven't seen them PIPed, but haven't been around that long. Even if they get PIPed, it's probably a year before that happens, plus 6 months before they actually get kicked out. But Amazon indexes a lot on mentoring people, there are many opportunities to help them out and check the box there. I'm not sure how much other companies care if you teach others.
