I am shooked... people who I have never imagined to be coding are getting offers from Amazon new grad. whats going on
I'm pretty sure the bar was removed. You dont even have to go onsite now for new grad, it's all virtual. I just did an onsite loop for L5 with Amazon today, no way I'm joining that shit show even though I expect an offer. Got an offer from MSFT, going there instead.
Lol but not you huh. If you’re within 1-2 years of college they will hire you at new grad level if you think it will be easy
Not true, I have 1.5 YOE I just did an L5 loop today and have interviewed but withdrew for an L6 role with 1 YOE.
i already got an offer for new grad this year
So funny how none of you are in Amazon tho, keep talking 😂
Agreed. had a 30 minute Virtual Onsite and that’s it. Expecting a huge wave of lay-off of these new grads in the next two years from Amazon....
Wait I knew they dont do physical on sites anymore, but are you saying that they dont even screen? Its 30 minutes??? How can they possibly maintain quality with that. From 5-6hrs of interviews to 30 mins and its virtual lol.
Because new grads have the most churn. Everyone knows its quite easy to PIP a new grad.
Hey I've interned at 2 FAANG and got resume rejected...
Anybody from Amazon can explain?
Amazon - trespassers are hired!
Lowering the bar across higher levels as well or just new grads only?
No idea what the process is now. I have seen a handful of new grads, most need lots of handholding for a long time, but occasionally there's a good one. Haven't seen them PIPed, but haven't been around that long. Even if they get PIPed, it's probably a year before that happens, plus 6 months before they actually get kicked out. But Amazon indexes a lot on mentoring people, there are many opportunities to help them out and check the box there. I'm not sure how much other companies care if you teach others.
Are you shooked?
mad shooked. they are hiring sociology and geography majors now. guess not enough to PIP
Smart to keep the coders they actually want
