Hi I received a new grad offer from Amazon, start date is early August 2022. The offer states that it is contingent upon me getting a bachelors degree(did not specify what kind of B.A degree though). I don’t graduate till mid August 2022. However I have a bachelors degree in Social Sciences and decided to go back to school for a CS degree. My question is will the Social Science degree satisfy the B.A degree contingent or it has to be a CS degree? I will be getting a CS degree officially about a week after Day 1.
Is this a return offer? Can you share base/sign bonus/ etc. To your question, I would ask recruiter but I don’t think they care about degrees
I did not have an official recruiter. I attended the career fair and applied using the link that was provided after the fair.
Shdnt b an issue if ur graduating in mid august. Can inform them the same next year when the time comes and thy will understand. Who knows, u might get other offers as well by then..
If you didn't lie on the job application, then it's all good. But remember they PIP because of URA quota, not because of your degree.
Nope didn’t lie on my application, I informed them that I will be graduating in August. And also have it on my résumé that I submitted.
They won’t check. Trust me. DM if you wanna.
Also: fuck you for getting a higher base and more stocks for me with a social science BA when I have a CS masters Amazon has actually upper their pay at every level this year.
No they were still paying 151k to new grads 2 years ago. They have only upped for L5 and L6. When did u join?
Finish your existing degree snd don’t be a left in the cold. we are sure Big Jeff/Andy didn’t know you were clocking another Bachelors, who does that? Most people get an advanced degree. Or you can try if it snd tell us how it goes
Yes most people will get an advanced degree but no school out there will admit me to a Masters in CS when I have never taken a single CS class in my life. And didn’t know anything about coding. So my best beat was to take a 2nd bachelor. Found a school that only took me two years to get a bachelor’s in 2 years so not bad.
Ask your recruiter about the details of the start logistics. They might not let you join until you jump through some bureaucratic hoop (e.g. until degree is certified). This is the case for new grads at G, and the wording is about finishing your *current* degree. Maybe Amazon doesn't really care, but I would be careful to dot the i's and cross the t's if I were you.
Thanks I will reach out to the recruiter and see what she will say.
TC or get the fuck out!
Friend didn’t get to join a company for a reason vey similar to this
Did your friend have a bachelor’s degree in a different field too?
He didn’t get his degree on time
