I'm trying to analyze the pattern of Amazon offers. Lately, their offers are very low on equity because they know that their stock grows like a steroid infused bull. Probably, the ones who joined Amazon in 2014 are millionaires by now. Would you guys share the offers in this format - position/RSUs/year of offer. My offer: SDE2/100/2018
No, because that would identify me. However if I had kept my whole initial grant it would now be worth over 8 million bucks. Unfortunately I diversified and sold it all when it vested. Since then my later grants were worth a lot and I also sold them. I’m still richer than I ever expected, but if I’d kept it all I’d be in a different league.
You know Amazon has gazillion employees, right? How would that identify you?! Anyway, it's your choice. And, good for you!
Amazon is also data-driven. I am guessing by me posting even with a range someone in HR could get the list of 7 or so that fall into that band. If this person had a “unique” offer, the share count, year and role could go a long way.
SDE2/360-380(some attempt at anonymizing)/2012
Great! Do they give out refreshers every year? I have heard if your total comp meet the band for that level you wouldn't get any refreshers. Is that true?
It’s complicated. It’s nothing to do with band, it’s your total comp target. If you have blown past your target comp due to stock growth and unvested shares you definitely will get tiny or no adjustments regardless of performance. Generally refreshes happen on the third review cycle and into the future, as your initial grant goes away.
SDE2/100/2018 same as op thank god they won’t identify me ;)
SDE1 / 60-70 / 2017 was my original offer. Keep in mind that your first year or so you probably won't see any of it. Vesting schedule is loaded towards the back pretty heavily
Um you shouldn't count on share appreciation...
At Amazon you can. 15% is built into the model and they give you extra in any year that it didn’t cover that 15% in the prior year. However, they’ve hit higher than 15% (typically much) every year this decade.
Yeah it's bullshit. The recruiters try to make this point when they sell the offer. It's wrong to assume any appreciation in TC yoy

QAE2/200/2015
What's QAE2? And, that's a good number of RSUs.
